The Reality of Brokenness

Heart with BandaidWe will all experience it – the pain and suffering of a broken heart. Different degrees, different responses, different heartaches, different circumstances, but we all have a choice to live broken lives or live restored lives.

The brokenness in my life became the key that unlocked the treasures of the love I was searching for; the love of the Father. Out of brokenness – He gave me wholeness.

The dictionary defines brokenness as:

• Overcome with grief or disappointment
• Violated or infringed
• Imperfect or incomplete
• Disturbed or disconnected
• Fragmented or fractured
• Not functioning properly
• Exhausted, weakened or confused

Perhaps, we can all see ourselves in this list at one time or another. The Lord longs for each of us to have a personal encounter with the hope and healing available to us through God’s transforming love.

In order to find freedom from my brokenness, my heart had to change. I learned that deliverance and restoration comes to those who open their hearts to our Redeemer and Savior, Jesus Christ. For some, the journey of healing may seem long, but I promise you that the Lord is faithful and He will not leave you. Will you open your heart to Him today and submit to what He desires to do in your life?

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)
