For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)
Our photos are important – they act as a reminder of the people we love; family and friends, special occasions, vacations, houses we called home, pets and all the important moments of life. Creating a scrapbook of all those beautiful, meaningful moments is a treasured keepsake for present and future generations to enjoy.
For years, I taught scrapbooking classes. There were times of laughter, tears and joy as I shared in the memories of my fellow scrapbookers. We’ve all heard the expression, “a picture is worth a thousand words”. But is it really…don’t we need the photo journaling to go along with the picture? Without some description, the priceless photo can become a nameless snapshot.
In a scrapbook we have a wonderful opportunity to share in the goodness of God; birthday photos that signify another year of God’s blessings, scenic photos that share God’s magnificent creation, family photos showing God’s love and faithfulness – just to name a few. O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:9
If God had a scrapbook about you, His love and blessings would appear in abundance through the pages of your book. It would look something like this:
Baby photos – For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13
Parenting photos – You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:7
Birthday photos – The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26
Family photos – But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19
Friend photos – The righteous should choose his friends carefully. Proverbs 12:26
Scenic photos – In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
Christmas photos – Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him. Matthew 2:1-2
Graduation photos – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
Celebrating You photos – For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
Remembrance photos – I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Philippians 1:3
“If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If God had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. He could live anywhere in the universe and He chose your heart.” Mark Stibbe
