Is It Possible To Live Worry-Free?

Worry-Free living – is it possible? The benefits of depending on God are endless.

winegrowing-973027_640

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”     John 15:5 NKJV

As we begin 2017, I want to encourage you to wholeheartedly depend on the one who is extending His hand towards you. He will never leave you or forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) Run to Him and Trust in Him.

So how do we depend on the Lord? The Christian who is walking in God’s Word is less likely to ask anything that goes against God’s will.

  • Surrender Your Will – God’s purposes are always for your greater good. (Romans 8:28)
  • Abide in Christ – Your soul is nourished in the presence of Jesus Christ. (James 4:8)
  • Renew Your Mind – Immerse yourself in God’s Word. (Philippians 4:8)
  • Trust in God’s Faithfulness – Call upon Him and He will answer you. (Psalm 91:15)
  • Be Rooted and Established in Love – Trust in God’s unfailing love forever. (Psalm 52:8)
  • Rest in Him – Ask Jesus to fill you with His peace. (Matthew 11:28)

Pray EasyThank you, Lord, for your many benefits that result from depending on you.

Once You Choose Hope Anything is Possible

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Looking at the statistics above, it seems likely that we all know someone (if not yourself) that has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Myself, I can testify to the difficult year I fought breast cancer. The endless tests, surgeries, and depleted energy were all a part of my journey of restoration. Today I can declare I am a survivor!

breast-cancer

Here are some attributes that you will want to hold close to your heart while you are going through your healing.

Love – Choose love over fear.  Love never fails. 1 John 4:16; We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Faith – Let your faith be bigger than your circumstances. Have faith in the goodness of God to provide hope for the future. Hebrews 12:2; Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Strength – While you are healing from the physical scars or the emotional scars that breast cancer brings, meditate on His promises. He is faithful. Isaiah 40:29;  “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength”

Hope – Hope looks forward. You will be able to break free from any fear and despair and receive healing and restoration. Psalm 39:7; “But now Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.”

Pink Hope

Hold On Pain Ends – Whatever you are struggling with today, I encourage you to open your heart to the one who is our hope. The Lord is with you  –  be dependent on Him today. Rest in Him and His promise of eternal life. Nothing can separate you from His love for you. Once You Choose Hope Anything is Possible!

Cultivate Compassion – God has great compassion towards you. Now put your compassion into action. There are many practical ways to help a woman that is suffering. You can lighten her load by preparing a meal, helping with the kids, running errands, and completing household chores. Your encouraging words and prayers will bring hope to the hurting.

Pray-ButtonThank you, Lord, for your love and compassion towards me. Show me those who need my help and compassion.

Does Time Heal All Wounds?

time-heals-all-wounds-1087107_640Time is a great healer…so we are told. If we experience a broken heart, let more time pass by and the pain will begin to subside…so we are told. Passing time can bury our hurt, our emotional pain can soften and the effects of physical pain can begin to dissipate over time. It is what we do during the timeframe that affects the quality of our lives.

Time alone can not simply heal anything. The following quote by Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy makes a lot of sense to me:

“It has been said, ‘time heals all wounds.’ I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.”

Does-the-Bible-Say-Time-Heals-All-Wounds_

If all we needed is more time to be healed, we probably would suffer from hope deferred and a heart that becomes sick. (Proverbs 13:12)

But there is hope because Jesus is the great healer. He may ask you to participate in your healing. Do you need to forgive someone? He may require further understanding of a situation where your heart was wounded. Whatever He is calling you to do, spend prayerful time in His healing presence. I’ve discovered the best way to heal a broken heart is to give God all the pieces.

Stand on these healing promises from the Lord:

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. Ps 147:3

Time for Hope1

“And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. Ps 39:7

Pray-ButtonThank you, Lord, for being such a complete healer. If we suffer from physical infirmities, you will give sufficient grace to the weak.

Those Who Wait on God Will Never Be Disappointed

I am waiting wait on Godand anticipating for God to answer a longsuffering prayer. To be honest, I must confess there are times I sigh and grow weary. I want to ask God, “When God, when?”

I don’t know anyone who likes to wait. How we wait is important to God. Will you be frustrated or transformed while you wait? He gives the grace to await His purposes if we trust in Him. In our flesh, we want proof; but our spirit requires faith.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

Here are some truths to follow while waiting on God:

Put your hope in His Word.  I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope. (Psalm 130:5)

Trust in the Lord, not in your own understanding. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

You have an opportunity to experience God’s goodness. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13)

Wait on God’s promise – Don’t go your own wayNow to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20)

Be strong and courageousBe of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord. (Psalm 31:24)

Be steadfast in prayer and thanksgivingContinue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving. (Colossians 4:2)

Be assured – the blessings are comingTherefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him. (Isaiah 30:18)

Next time you wait impatiently, remind yourself that God always has good reasons for making us wait, and he never asks us to wait without Him.  Isaiah knew this when he wrote:

eagle

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.        (Isaiah 40:31)

Pray-Button

Thank you Lord, for the faith to know that you are in charge of every detail of our lives. Your timing is perfect, and we can trust in you to renew our strength.

Keep Hope Alive While Waiting for Your Breakthrough

Hope - Miracles

There are times when our prayers can appear to go unanswered. We question if God even hears those prayers. But be assured, He is working on our behalf.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV)

We can wait on God passively or expectantly. The passive person will eventually give up, believing they have waited long enough and nothing will change. They decide to learn to live with the situation. The expectant person continues to hope and expects the answer is coming at any moment, even though the waiting continues.

Do you believe that God will never fail you? Can you accept God’s timing and resist the temptation to reason it all out on our own? Can you live in hope and trust God who causes all things to happen at exactly the right time?

A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 NJKV)

In the book of Genesis, we read about the story of Joseph. He waited many years for the fulfillment of the dream God gave to him. Joseph went through many difficult situations and waited in prison before the time came for God’s purpose to manifest itself. (Genesis 39:41)

I must confess that I had a passive heart regarding a health issue. In 1977, I contracted Hepatitis C through a blood transfusion while recovering from gunshot wounds in the hospital. It wasn’t until a few years later that I learned I was infected and developed chronic Hep C. This contagious liver disease results from infection with the Hep C virus.

For the past 39 years, I had endless blood tests, liver biopsies and doctor visits to monitor my liver. The only treatments available were difficult to endure and the success rate for a cure was low. I resolved to accept and adapt to living with Hepatitis C. I didn’t cry out in frustration, “When, God, when?” I simply grew tired of waiting.

Suddenly a new drug comes on the market and I am an excellent match for treatment. More tests, frequent doctor’s visits and endless paperwork followed, but this time I waited expectantly. And then one day, a box arrived on my doorstep containing my first bottle of medication. I prayed with thankfulness for the healing that would soon come. Psalm 103:3 promises that He heals all my diseases.

My latest test results revealed the virus is no longer detected in my blood. My breakthrough has come. Now I am focusing on other prayer requests that have seemed to go unanswered, for God is faithful. My faith has swelled with hope!

Pray-ButtonThank you Lord for your limitless power. Help us to wait patiently and expectantly to receive our breakthrough.

What’s in Your Hope Chest?

@Maureen_Hager

Do you have a hopeful expectancy about your future or do you fear the unknown? Scripture points us to the hope we have in God’s plan for our lives.  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV)

Be Strong, Take Heart, All Who Hope in the Lord Psalm 31:24

Be Strong, Take Heart, All Who Hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24

Traditionally, a Hope Chest is full of items dedicated to the hope of having a future. The chests were used for collecting and storing items for younger women to have when they got married. Typical items included; dishes, silverware, linens, towels, family mementos and a big chest of dreams.

Today, Hope Chests have all but disappeared from modern day family life. While most of us own a chest, more often than not it is used for general storage at the foot of the bed.

From a spiritual perspective, here’s some treasures to have and to hold in your own Hope Chest:

BIBLE – All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16

JOY & PEACE – Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

LOVE – And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16

FORGIVENESS – For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14

PRAYER – Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:12

FAITH – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

REDEMPTION – In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7

Pray-ButtonThank you Lord for the hope we have in you!

Choose to Become Better, not Bitter

Root of bitternessWe will encounter injustice in our lives. No one is immune from a harsh word spoken, an act of deception, a broken relationship, slander, unfair treatment or a host of other offenses. Bitterness has a strong root and it can become stubborn to pull from a burdened heart. The root is heavy and can last  for years. So what is the solution for overcoming bitterness and resentment? Pull out the root and you will remove the offender’s power over you.

While you may be able to hide the bitterness in your heart from others, the Lord looks at your heart. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7b (NKJV)

The Bible sets high importance on keeping our hearts pure: Keep your Guard heart - Prov 4-23heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23 (NJKV)

To overcome bitterness and resentment you must first ask God to forgive you and then ask Him to forgive those who have caused the injustice against you. Pray daily for God’s healing. He will bring justice. Allow God to help you forgive and forget – You probably can’t do it on your own.

Choose to focus on the good in your life and not allow the bad that has happened to keep you from God’s best.

Always PRAY to have eyes that see the best in people,                              A heart that forgives the worst,                                                                            A mind that forgets the bad,                                                                                 And a soul that never loses faith in God!

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:  looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled. Hebrews 12:14-15 (NJKV)

Prayer – Lord, my hope is in you alone, not in my circumstances or earthly justice. I release all my bitterness to your healing power. Thank you that justice is in your hands.

Can the Super Bowl Raise Awareness of Sex Trafficking?

Sex trafficking occurs every day in the United States, in every one of our States. The Super Bowl is known as the single largest Sex Trafficking event in the United  States. Traffickers will transport thousands of girls to Phoenix and force them to make nightly quotas for them.

SHALOM comes from living in harmony with God

ShalomThe Hebrew word Shalom is understood around the world to mean peace. But peace is only one small part of the meaning of the word.  In Israel the word Shalom is used on a daily basis as a greeting or farewell. However, Shalom means much more than peace, hello or goodbye.

A word study in the NKJV defines Shalom (Strong’s Concordance 7965 – Hebrew Shalom) as: Completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, and the absence of agitation or discord.

Shalom-with-textShalom comes from living in harmony with God. When you pray to Yahweh Shalom, you are praying to the source of all peace.

Sar Shalom (Prince of Peace) is one of the descriptive names the Bible uses to indicate the ministry and personality of the Messiah: Isaiah 9:6-7 – The Son of God is completely perfect in all things.

So in essence, when you speak out the word Shalom – you are not only proclaiming peace, but the fullness of Shalom over that person – that’s a powerful blessing!!!

When someone says Shalom to you, you should receive it as a tremendous blessing. And bless them back with a heartfelt Shalom!

Numbers 6:24-26 – The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you SHALOM.

PrayerYahweh Shalom, Thank you that your peace transcends all human understanding. Help me in the midst of adversity to accept your precious gift. I open my heart and mind to you and rest in your presence. In the name of Sar Shalom – the Prince of Peace.
