Modern Day Slavery – It is Everywhere!
Many people believe that human trafficking only occurs in foreign countries. This is a dangerous misconception.
WHY? Human trafficking exists in the United States and sometimes right in our own backyard.
WHAT? Do you know the facts? How can you help eradicate this horrible beyond belief crime? I challenge each Christian to ask God, “What would you have me to do in preventing abuse and making an impact for victims?”
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
KNOW THE FACTS – Sex trafficking is a booming business. The common age a child enters sex trafficking is 14-16, but many are only 12 years of age. Can you imagine – She’s Someone’s Daughter who has lost her freedom!

Prostitution is not the oldest business. Slavery is the oldest business. (unknown)
Thank you, Lord, that you came to set the captives free. Show me what I can do to make a difference in the lives of those held in bondage by their traffickers.

We all would like to escape the sorrow that despair brings. Too often despair brings along bitterness, depression, resentment, unforgiveness and a list of other disappointments. It brings hopelessness. Despair can be dark and deep. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. (Psalm 40:2) NIV
Hope challenges despair. It is a glimmer of light in a dark place. Hope brings confidence to the broken heart – we look forward to and believe things will work out for our good. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18) NIV
Despair looks backward –
Hope Looks forward –
In my life I have know despair. I am so grateful for the hope we have in Christ. The Lord lifted me out of a pit of despair and I was able to break free and receive healing and restoration. But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you. (Psalm 39:7) NIV
If you have a challenge in your life now or if you are experiencing despair, first consider the truth that there is an answer. Hope is on its way. His name is Jesus! You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. (Psalm 119:114) NIV
Prayer – Lord, I put my hope in you. You see my circumstances and know my troubled heart. I trust in you and know that you will make all things work together for good. (Romans 8:28)

Love and Blessings,
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair. 2 Corinthians 4:7-8 (NJKV)
Let’s be honest, life has its challenges. Have you traveled on the road of disappointment for so long that your heart is numb? You can’t risk being hurt again, so you enclose your heart in a protective and hardened shell.
There was a time in my life when I lost hope. I remember thinking if I don’t expect anything from anyone, then I won’t be let down. I hid my pain and fears behind my pride of self-sufficiency. That was hurt talking, not hope.
My perspective changed the night I met my Savior. Suddenly, I felt heavenly hope for the journey ahead. Jesus’ finished work on the cross secured this hope. No matter what trials or disappointments may come my way, and there have been many, my heart is comforted in Him. The Lord is with me. I now have a dependent spirit for the God whom I trust.
There is hope in the valley, there is deliverance at the end of the trial, there is joy in the journey. Whatever you may be facing today, I encourage you to open your heart to the one who is our hope. Rest in Him and His promise of eternal life. Nothing can separate you from His love for you!
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
