Unfixable in This Life

I can still hear the unwelcome words of my orthopedist, “Shattered beyond repair,” “But you’re a doctor – isn’t it your job to fix these broken bones?” I protested. “Surgery can fuse your bones together, but you will have to adapt to the way you walk.” At the time, I could not have imagined the ramification of what that would mean.

The year was 1978 when I first learned the truth – not all things will be fixable in this life. Some are physical, some emotional and others spiritual. But, here’s another truth; He is reaching out His hand to show us the way to victory.

Maybe we need to adapt our expectations and lean on God’s grace to help us through the unfixables in this life. We need to trust Him. We need to know He loves us no matter what happens in our lives.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.                                                                            Philippians 4:13

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.                                                              Romans 8:28

If God is for us, who can be against us?  Romans 8:31b

Orthopedic issues and challenges will most likely follow me the rest of my days on earth, but not for eternity. Heaven is my real home, my forever home. Jesus is waiting there for me. There will be no walkers or canes, and I will be able to walk, run, and dance in His presence. At last, what a glorious existence it will be!

Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. Psalm 51:8

Steady perseverance brings healing and establishes my purpose in Jesus’ plan for my life. Despite difficulties and disappointments, I know I will not lose heart as long as I fix my eyes on Jesus.

Hebrews 12:1-2 is a favorite Scripture of mine. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

We live with brokenness and blessings, challenges and victories, sorrow and joy. They are all intertwined together. Allow the Lord to remove the strands of brokenness and sorrow from your life, and the blessings and joy will remain.

Thank you, Lord, that our afflictions are light and only for a time from the perspective of eternity.

Transition Requires God’s Grace

Are you willing to embrace change? Even when we believe we are in God’s will, transition can be difficult and require the covering of God’s grace. His grace, we can count on it, we can lean on it, because He knows the upheaval we are going through.

house in a boxToday my house is overflowing with boxes. We are in transition. Moving to a new house after months of pouring over paint samples, fixtures, floor samples, hardware and so much more, we can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

We are home and we are thankful that His grace upheld us during the transition. Much of the building process was out of our control, except our knowing that our future was in the Lord’s hands. We packed up our hope and let Jesus carry our burdens. He was willing to do the lifting of our tired souls.

While we unpack, we leave the old boxes and wrapping paper behind and look to the future with the hope that God put in our hearts. We are blessed by the grace of God to be in our new home. God is faithful!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)

Thank you Lord for your amazing love and grace in my life. I give you my future and I put my hope in your hands. Blessed
