Learning to Trust in God

  • You can’t trust Him without faith. Do you have faith in His love for you? Do you believe He is really listening to you? He wants to take care of you! Listen to the Word in John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

  • Tell your heart not to worry. I know doubts swarm around in our heads and it will take an intentional decision to choose to trust God. You may have to remind yourself daily of your decision, but decide to believe.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.     Philippians 4:6-7

  • Take your thoughts captive. Positive thoughts are full of faith and hope. Negative thoughts are full of fear and doubt. Beware Satan will try to discourage us. The answer – Focus on Jesus, He is the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

  • Read your Bible on a regular basis. Become familiar with the promises of God. Be reminded of God’s love, His redemption, His restoration, and His encouragement to trust Him.

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.                Psalm 110:105

  • Trust God through the trials. Jesus told us in John 16:33,

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

  • Do Not Fear. The Lord is with you. If you are anxious, make your requests known to God. Philippians 4:6

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

  • Don’t Give Up. Lean on God’s grace. Cast your cares upon God.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Thank you, Lord, by abiding in your word, the truth will set us free!

Living in a Prison of Hope

"Let Your Hopes, Not Your Hurt, Shape Your Future" Robert H Schuller

“Let Your Hopes, Not Your Hurt, Shape Your Future” Robert H Schuller

I am secure when I lock myself in my prison of hope. Maybe you’re thinking that being a prisoner represents captivity and loss of freedom. In God, we are bound in believing the best is yet to come; victory is on its way. Allow yourself to be captured by and be filled with hope.

Return to the stronghold, You prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will  restore double to you. ~  Zechariah 9:12

Biblical hope is a solid foundation. Hope is a confident and eager expectation of something good. God promises He will restore double what we have lost or had stolen from us. Are you ready to receive a double blessing?

As for me, I accept that I am a Prisoner of Hope – someone who God brought from a wounded victim in a biker gang war to an encounter with the hope and healing of God’s love.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,         for He who promised is faithful. ~ Hebrews 10:23

We know we will encounter life’s trials and tests.  But be assured, there is hope in the valley, there is deliverance at the end of the trial, there is joy in the journey. Whatever you may be facing today, open your heart to the one who is our hope. Rest in Him and His promise of eternal life. Nothing can separate you from His love for you!

When you do not see the answer to your prayers, your hope can become deferred. But, wait – hope deferred does not mean hope denied. f3252933eb4536a8fb5f574f35141d6f

So how do we guard our hearts against a hope deferred?

Our hope must be based on the unfailing, amazing love of God for us.                    1 John 4:19

Keep your eyes on Jesus and not on your circumstances.                             ~ Hebrews 12:2

God’s timing, is not your timing.                                                                                               ~2 Corinthians 6:2

God will work all things together for your good.                                               ~Romans 8:28

Know that we live in a sinful world and our plans may not come together in the way we envisioned them.                                                                                           ~Proverbs 16:9

In the meantime, renew your faith in the Lord. He is our Hope!

Thank you, Lord, for the hope, we have in you. May we live as a prisoner of hope. We know you are faithful to your promises.

Do You Feel the Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side of the Fence?

sheep-680217_640How do you look at other people’s lives? The above cliche characterizes a state of discontentment. So many people wait for the day when they will have a bigger house or a newer car, when they have lost weight, when they are out of debt or have a promotion and so on… Then they think, ” I will be happy.”

But, do those things bring happiness? Longing for a change of circumstances may be warranted, but only if you find contentment in your present situation. Read God’s truth in 1 Timothy 6:6-7  Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

sheep-981881_640In our search for greener pastures, we may discover that looks can be deceiving. After what appears to be our breakthrough, we can find ourselves in more debt while chasing the shiny new must haves. Ask yourself now, “Was it worth it?” You find your new boss is very demanding and nothing like the old boss you left behind. Now you find yourself working longer hours just to have the corner office. Discontentment surrounds you and you long for the way things once were. But, it is too late now.

At times we all have jumped over the fence only to later regret a hasty alternative. It would be wise to seek the Lord before you make decisions. Hebrews 13:5  Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Now that is a picture of contentment! jumping sheep

Thank you, Lord, for supplying all my needs. Give me a thankful and contented heart.

Don’t Worry – God is Always on Time

Wait and strength

Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:14

Life brings many times of waiting. None of us like to wait, but the question is how will you wait? You can wait in impatient worry about the outcome of your prayer, or you can expectantly wait in hope for the Lord. patience - waiting

The Lord knows how easily we become impatient and He gives us many promises to help us wait in hope:

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:34

Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. Psalm 33:20

Blessed are all who wait for Him! He rises to show you compassion” (Isaiah 30:18).

They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31).

Surely, this is our God; we trust (and waited) in him, and he saved us” (Isaiah 25:9).

Don’t ever give up! Don’t ever stop believing! Stay full of hope and expectation. God’s power is limitless and so is His love for you! joyful in hope

Prayer – Lord, I put my hope and my trust in your love for me. Your timing is perfect and I choose to wait on you. Thank you for the plan and purpose you have for my life. (Jeremiah 29:11)
